FRATERNITY NEWS

One Week Until AWW! 07.10.09 10:35

Happy Friday, Trusted Knights,

Alumni Work Weekend draws tantalizingly near. In one short week, on July 17, Sigma Nu's new and old from around the world will be descending on 556 S. West. There is even a probability that legendary Sigma Nu Bob Barker will be there! I won't say what that probability is, but trust me, it exists.

In order that everyone is on the same page when they arrive, the projects that we are looking to complete during the weekend are the following:

• Finishing the burlap ceiling in the basement Library.
• Assembling dry erase board walls for the Library.
• Building a bookshelf out of the door that doesn't close and some cinder blocks.
• Touching up the Delta Theta Crest
• Drinking all the beer that the Alumni bring.
• Cleaning the gutters in the front of the house so we don't have a water wall separating the porch from the world when it rains
• Organizing the tool room, hanging some cork board for easy storage of... stuff.
• Finishing putting in the molding that's been in the house (uninstalled) for at least four years
Rohel drop kicked a hole in the wall.
• Installing lighting fixtures in the Library, if we get to it.
• Fixing the fluorescent light fixture in the kitchen, which currently hangs by only one side.
• The badge, the badge, the badge.

As if you needed an additional reason to drop everything your were doing and make the trip to Galesburg, there will also be PRIZES. Those prizes include:
• A sense of satisfaction
• The chance to relive your youth
• Beer!
• Good exercise
• A "get off the email list free" card
• Making friends with the collegiate chapter
• Smiles.

Alumni Work Weekend 07.03.09 2:10

You might have heard it on the wind.
Maybe a little bird told you.
Perhaps you eavesdropped on some people talking about it during your morning commute.
In any case, it must be pretty darn hard to avoid the news that seems to be popping up everywhere: Alumni Work Weekend is coming, and it's coming soon. In just one fortnight, on July 17, 18 and 19, Delta Thetas from all walks of life will be descending on 556 S. West St in Galesburg, IL (61401) for what is bound to be a life-changing experience, one that will fall short only of being on Oprah or immanetizing the eschaton. "But how can I take part?" you are bound to be asking yourself. Well, that's easy. Simply make your travel arrangements to Galesburg for the 17-19 and show up. But, let us know first. It's bound to be a big crowd. Email deltathetatimes [at] gmail.com or our current house manager, John Perleberg at jperlebe [at] knox.edu of your plans. He's living in the house in the summer, and boy is he ready for you to come help clean the sty! We've got a load of projects ready to tackle, from our soon-to-be basement library, to an elephant in a room (I kid, it's a badge), to a bunch of molding to install. If you want to live like you did in the halcyon days of your youth, you can even sleep at the house, free of charge. Comfort is not guaranteed, but fun is.

Delta Theta Times Released Again! 07.03.09 1:05

The ΔΘ chapter of Sigma Nu does it again! Another fantastic issue of the Delta Theta Times is out. Check the Delta Theta Times section of the site to read all about the chapter's activities recently, as well as some titillating news about ALUMNI WORK WEEKEND (JULY 17, 18 AND 19 @ 556 S. WEST STREET, GALESBURG IL, 61401). Also, check out all the old DTTs you love so much. At least, all the ones we have digital copies of.

Alumni Section Complete: 07.03.09 0:20

The alumni section is completed. In theory. But it needs your help! The information is scant, and it needs your help to fill it out. What are you doing these days? Let us know at deltathetatimes [at] gmail.com. Or, better yet, join us during ALUMNI WORK WEEKEND which is from JULY 17-19, 2009 at the Sigma Nu house at 556 SOUTH WEST STREET, GALESBURG IL, 61401, ya know, Galesburg, that town you went to college in. Remember?

Collegiate Chapter Now Warm Friendly Dudes: 07.02.09 19:50

The Collegiate Chapter page has been finished and is ready for your viewing pleasure. All of the nice, professional looking pictures come from the 2008-09 academic year composite. Since they were taken from the watermarked preview sent to us, some people currently have pictures taken from less reputable sources. However, the Vantine company has been kind enough to send a digital copy of the composite with their overpriced actual one, so more... respectable pictures will be forthcoming. However, if you thought that was bad just wait until the alumni page goes up. Y'all gonna look crazy. If you are a collegiate member and find the information your page inaccurate or offensive, please inform the webmaster for the 2009-10 academic year, Chris Johnson at crjohnso [at] knox.edu. He will fix it as soon as he is capable of it.

(PSST: ALUMNI WORK WEEKEND IS JULY 17, 18 and 19 OF 2009, PASS IT ON)
